MINDEN, Neb.— The numbers are in for the $27 million bond for the Minden School District.

It was approved with a 813 to 796 vote.

This $27 million bond is set to build a new elementary school in Minden with a promise of no new taxes.

Proponents for the bond say this is great time because a new construction would not increase the tax rate, while providing property taxpayers a credit from recently passed state legislation.

The elementary school currently in use just celebrated its 100th year. With its age comes wear and tear needing to be addressed.

The new bond will allow the school district to build a new school where the old high school was located - on the empty patch of grass on the east side of the current middle school.

Final votes were due back on Tuesday evening and counting ensued shortly after.
