WAUSA, Neb.- A Northeast Nebraska school will be receiving updates to their sports facilities, after their school district votes to pass a 2 million dollar bond.

Wausa track athletes will soon be running on a modern rubber track, and spectators will have ADA compliant seating.

People who live in the district voted to pass the bond 255 for, and 165 against.

The new bond will add a $29 increase to taxes for every $100,000 of residential property.

Agriculture land varies depending what is being produced.

The health of athletes was a top concern when coaches presented the idea to superintendent Brad Hoesing.

Hoesing commented in early October of how the bond got started.

“The track coaches came to us and talked at length about the need for a safe adequate practice facility, and a competition facility”, said Hoesing. “So when we started going through the process of cost and the types of the facilities we have, our board came to the decision that it it was time to go to bond, ask the question to our public and see if this was the right time and the right process.”

Wausa is no stranger to passing bonds. The school district passed one in 2018, which led to a massive renovation and building project.
