Sidney Police urge residents to lock vehicles after two recent thefts
SIDNEY - The Sidney Police Department is reminding residents to secure their vehicles after two car thefts were reported in the past two weeks.
Police said both vehicles were easily accessible with keys left inside. Officers were able to recover both vehicles, but the department is using the incidents to encourage better security habits.
“Criminals often look for the easiest target,” the department said in a release. “A quick check can prevent a crime.”
Police urged residents to always remove keys and key fobs from vehicles, lock all doors and windows and remove or hide visible valuables such as electronics, wallets, and bags.
The department thanked the public for its continued cooperation and reminded residents to report suspicious activity by calling (308) 254-5515.
