KIMBALL -- A community member is organizing a project that will bring the spirit of giving to the community while helping families in need.

Jessica Rocha is collaborating with the Main Street Market to offer donation-based photo sessions. The proceeds will go toward buying gift cards for families to help buy food and other essentials.

“With the way of the world, I figured that there are quite a few people struggling,” Rocha said. “I know that there are people who do need help all over but in our community as well, so knowing that maybe they don’t have another option, I would like to be able to use something that I have in my bag of talents to help people who are in need.”

She reached out to Troy Harper with Main Street Market to set up a photo section in the store for people to come in for portraits.

“If anyone is capable of donating to help people in need, that would be fantastic, and if somebody doesn’t have anything to donate and just wants to get pictures taken, that is perfectly OK too,” she said.

Rocha said she wants this to be something that everyone feels like they can be a part of by providing an affordable option for families to get portraits, collecting donations to help local families, and supporting the grocery store.

“I know having a grocery store in our community is one of the best things that we do have, so hoping we can keep it going along with the people in our community going,” she said. “I’m excited to be working with them, and hopefully we can get lots of donations, lots of people coming in for pictures where we can get gifts cards out to as many people who need them.”

People can request various types of portraits whether it’s family portraits, baby pictures, engagement photos, couples photos, etc.

There is no need to reserve a spot; anyone can drop in during the session times, which will be Nov. 15, Nov. 22, and Dec. 13 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Kimball Main Street Market.

Rocha plans to purchase gift cards at the end of each photo session. The amount on the gift cards will vary depending on the donations collected and the demand for gift cards, but she is hoping to provide $25-$50 gift cards.
