SIDNEY -- Jordan Hajek and Sheila Von Seggern have been chosen to fill two county seats.

Cheyenne County Clerk Beth Fiegenschuh and Treasurer Shelley Bowlin announced their retirement this summer. The County Commissioners took applications for the two positions with four people applying for the two openings. Hajek is the only applicant for the Clerk's position and three people applied for the Treasurer's position.

Von Seggern is currently employed in the Treasurer's Office.

"I've worked for the Cheyenne County Treasurer's Office for almost 10 years. I started working there back in mid-December of 2015," Von Seggern said after accepting the position.

She said she is excited for the new position.

"I feel grateful and honored that the Cheyenne County Commissioners chose me out of the three different candidates that applied to act as the interim county treasurer. Their confidence in my abilities to serve Cheyenne County is an honor. I'm also excited to serve Cheyenne County in my new role, as the county treasurer," she said.

She said her knowledge and experience should make for an easy transition to the role of treasurer.

Hajek is busy learning the duties of county clerk.

"I am excited to share that I have accepted the role of Cheyenne County Clerk. I am eager to serve not only the community of Cheyenne County, but also the dedicated employees who work here," she said.

She thanks everyone who supported her as assessor.

"I've been fortunate to build many meaningful relationships with the taxpayers of Cheyenne County," she said.

Hajek is currently the county assessor. Monday, the commissioners will formally accept her resignation as Assessor.
