Two injured in head-on collision south of Sidney

SIDNEY, Neb. - Two people were injured Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash south of Sidney near the intersection of Road 19 and Road 113, close to the Sidney Municipal Airport.
According to the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. when a gray Dodge minivan reportedly attempted to pass a semi-tractor-trailer in a no-passing zone. The minivan collided head-on with a westbound red Ford Edge.
Two people were transported by ambulance to Sidney Regional Medical Center. The driver of the van was later flown to another hospital for further treatment. The names and conditions of those involved have not been released.
Traffic on Road 19 was stopped in both directions for over an hour as crews worked the scene and cleared the wreckage.
Emergency crews from the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department, Sidney Regional Medical Center EMS and the Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
The Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
