HOLDREGE, Neb. — Court documents are revealing more information about a Holdrege couple accused of grooming and attempting to traffic a teenage girl they met through a Nebraska school system.

Their arrests have drawn attention from national media outlets like Fox News, People Magazine, The New York Post and more.

According to court filings, 36-year-old Elizabeth “Jamie” Love, a transition coordinator and teacher for the deaf and hard of hearing, and her boyfriend 42-year-old Jarid “Jack” Krause are charged with sex trafficking of a minor. Love also faces an additional charge of third-degree sexual abuse by a school employee.

Prosecutors allege the two used Love’s position at the school to build a relationship with the 16-year-old victim over several years.

Investigators say Love had worked with the student since seventh grade and developed a close personal connection with her. Love invited the teen to the Nebraska State Fair over the summer, and although the victim didn’t go, the two began riding in Love’s car around that time.

During one of those car rides, Krause allegedly called Love on speakerphone and made explicit sexual remarks. Court documents state that Love told the victim Krause was “really good at it” and suggested that she would be willing to “share” him — making the victim uncomfortable enough to ask for another ride home.

Records show that on Oct. 9, during a speech therapy session at school, Love asked the teen inappropriate personal questions about sexual activity. Love later invited the victim to go shopping and visit the couple’s home in Holdrege that weekend.

On Oct. 11, investigators say Love picked up the victim from Minden and drove her to the Holdrege home, where Krause arrived later with his two young sons. Love then texted the victim asking if she was “ready to go upstairs.” Believing she was being shown the house, the teen followed Krause upstairs, where he allegedly made sexual advances that she refused before leaving the home on foot.

According to the affidavit, Love followed the victim in her car, convinced her to hang up the phone with her father, and drove her home. Love allegedly apologized and paid her $100 and told her not to tell anyone, saying Krause could lose custody of his children or go back to prison.

Investigators say text messages show Love and Krause had planned the earlier interactions with the victim months in advance. Documents also note that Love had proposed letting the teen live with the couple so she could transfer to a different high school, citing the student’s struggles in Minden.

Investigators noted in the affidavit that text messages between Love and Krause showed discussions about “starting foster care paperwork” for the victim, adding that the couple had considered doing so for other girls as well.

"Just like that 19-year-old... she's been in foster care, so she'll be a damaged kid," Love texted Krause. "You'll get to have all the fun you want."

Love and Krause were later arrested and charged. Each is being held on a $250,000 bond.

Love’s next court hearing is set for Nov. 17, while Krause’s is scheduled for Nov. 3.
