PILGER, Neb.-- A Northeast Nebraska recreation area is getting an update that hopes to attract more people to the area.

LENRD Assistant General Manager Curt Becker says the owners of Sand Creek Post & Beam are fully donating materials and resources to construct a pavilion at the Pilger Recreation Area.

The rec area was constructed over 50 years ago and is one of the LENRD’s smaller recreation areas. Becker says the idea to make a shaded space for events came from locals.

“Ultimately it's a place to gather at this facility for family outings, family reunions, those types of things that you could have at this facility with a structure for everybody to gather,” said Becker.

Becker says they will start construction on the 24’ by 36’ pavilion soon if weather permits. The latest it will be finished is in spring.
