STANTON, Neb.-- A Waverly man is in jail after authorities say he hit multiple vehicles with his car and led officers on a high-speed chase through northeast Nebraska, all while high on drugs.

Stanton County authorities say they arrested 57-year-old Kurt Kasik on Tuesday evening.

Officials say they were called after a driver reported Kasik had struck their vehicle multiple times with his before fleeing on U.S. Highway 275 east of Norfolk.

Authorities say they caught up with Kasik in Pilger, where deputies say he almost struck a county cruiser head-on before fleeing down a state highway at speeds reaching up to 130 mph.

Stanton County authorities say Kasik was eventually run off the road and arrested.

Sheriff’s officials say Kasik was under the influence of methamphetamine and that he had struck a second vehicle prior to the first reported incident.

Authorities say he’s now being held on multiple felony charges.
