'Need to win in November': Huskers look to begin late season with statement win over USC

LINCOLN, Neb. - It's been nine years since Nebraska won a game against a Top 25 opponent, but the Huskers have a chance to do that this weekend.
Nebraska gets ready for the Blackout night game against #23 USC on Saturday night. The Huskers can get that elusive Top 25 win and get a statement win in a month that hasn't been too kind - Nebraska is 1-7 in November under Matt Rhule.
"You need to learn how to win in November, it doesn't really matter what happens in October, doesn't matter what happens in September, you need to be able to win in November," Rhule said. "If USC is just way way better than us, so be it, but I'm excited about the team, the things that they've done and the growth that they've made."
As normally is the case in a Memorial Stadium night game, the crowd is expected to be a factor. Rhule called on the fans to bring the energy to Saturday night.
"Let's get past it, we're Nebraska nice, but let's have a real game day environment," Rhule said. "That was an unbelievable game day environment (vs. Northwestern), even when the lead was slowly evaporating, the crowd just kept amping it up, ampring it up, amping it up, that was a different crowd than two years ago... Our crowd is awesome."
Nebraska and USC have the prime time slot on NBC, with kickoff set for 6:30 CT.
