SIDNEY - Authorities identified the driver arrested after a vehicle crashed into a residential garage early Saturday morning in Sidney.

According to law enforcement, 35-year-old Jamie Lanckriet, of Sidney, was arrested after driving his vehicle into a home in the 1200 block of Summit Drive around 1:30 a.m. Saturday.

Sidney Police said Lanckriet was the sole occupant of the vehicle when it left the roadway, drove over a curb and through a yard, before crashing through the north-facing wall of an attached garage. He was briefly trapped by debris before being assisted by officers and Sidney Regional EMS.

No one inside the residence was injured, and Lanckriet declined medical transport after being evaluated at the scene. Police said he showed signs of impairment and later registered a blood alcohol content more than three times the legal limit of 0.08.

Lanckriet was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of liquor and booked into the Cheyenne County Jail.

The Sidney Police Department reminded residents that impaired driving poses serious risks to public safety and property and urged motorists to use designated sober drivers.

The case remains under investigation.
