SIDNEY — The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a dense fog advisory for much of the southern Nebraska Panhandle, including Cheyenne, Logan, Laramie, Kimball, Morrill and Scotts Bluff counties, in effect until noon Wednesday.

Forecasters said visibility could drop to a quarter-mile or less in dense fog, creating hazardous driving conditions overnight and into the Wednesday morning commute. The advisory also includes Dawes, Box Butte, Banner, Garden and Sioux counties, with cities such as Sidney, Scottsbluff, Sterling, Pine Bluffs, Gering, Alliance, Chadron, Kimball and Bridgeport affected.

The Weather Service advised motorists to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles when driving in fog.
