Live results: Elkhorn North, Minden lead after Day 1 of Girls State Golf Championships
SCOTTSBLUFF — The opening round of the Nebraska School Activities Association Girls State Golf Championships wrapped up Monday, with Elkhorn North leading Class B at Scottsbluff Country Club and Minden out front in Class C at Lake Maloney Golf Club in North Platte.
In Class B, Elkhorn North posted a team score of 343 to take a six-stroke lead over Omaha Duchesne Academy (349). Gretna East sits third at 350, followed by Scottsbluff in fourth with a 363. Norris rounded out the top five at 365.
Elkhorn North’s Annabelle Bang holds the individual lead after shooting a 78 (+6). Avery Peter, also of Elkhorn North, sits second at 81, followed by Scottsbluff senior Addison Peck and Aurora’s Julia Messere, who each carded rounds of 82.
Sidney’s Josette McConnell, a senior, led the Lady Raiders with a 97 (+25), placing her in 44th heading into Tuesday’s final round. Sidney sits 11th in the team standings with a score of 405, while Gering is 12th at 407.
In Class C, Minden built a commanding lead at 328, well ahead of second-place Scotus Central Catholic (362) and third-place Adams Central (365). Sutton and West Holt round out the top five.
Minden’s KayLynn Jorgensen leads the Class C field after firing a 74 (+2), followed by teammate Macy Jorgensen with a 78 (+6). West Holt’s Daleni Knust is third at 80.
Kimball senior Aubrey Culek shot a 100 (+28) to finish the first day in a tie for 48th.
The state tournaments conclude Tuesday, with final rounds beginning at 9 a.m. in Scottsbluff and North Platte.
