SYRACUSE, NE - The Syracuse Rockets improved to 7-0 following a 40-0 win over the Falls City Tigers on homecoming in Syracuse, Nebraska, as heard on B103 Friday.

Rockets running back Will Janssen had rushed for over 1,000 yards on the season and didn’t slow down against the Tigers. Just a few minutes into the game, Janssen took a handoff 57 yards to the house to give Syracuse the early 7-0 lead.

It didn’t take long for the Rockets to add on as Janssen took the next pitch 74 yards for a touchdown and made it 14-0. Another three and out by the depleted Falls City offense led to another touchdown for Syracuse. This time it was Will Simon who went 86 yards for a 21-0 lead. The Rockets weren’t done in the second quarter as Jaxen Walters scored on a 46-yard end around to make it 27-0 after a missed PAT.

Just a minute later, the Syracuse defense stepped up with another play to turn defense into offense. Lawson Stark stepped in front of a pass and took it back to the house for a 33-0 Rockets lead at the half.

For the second half of play, most of the reserves were in for both teams as the score stayed at 33-0 until about three minutes remaining. Walters picked up a loose fumble and returned it for a touchdown to give the Rockets a 40-0 lead.

That would be the final score as Syracuse improved to 7-0. The Tigers dropped to 1-6. Syracuse will be back in action Friday at Auburn in a game that we'll cover on Otoe County Country, while Falls City will return home for a matchup with Wilber-Clatonia.
