BEATRICE – Emergency crews were sent to a highway accident north of Beatrice just after four-thirty p.m., Thursday.  A collision between two sport utility vehicles happened at the west junction of Nebraska Highway 41 and U.S. Highway 77.

Initial reports indicated that two persons suffered injuries in the accident…one with a laceration and another person with a possible broken wrist. Beatrice Fire and Rescue responded to the scene, taking one of the injured to Bryan West Health Center in Lincoln.

One of the vehicles involved in the collision ended up on its top, in the divided highway median. The crash slowed traffic through the area, but both northbound and southbound travel continued through the area.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office investigated the accident, and Clatonia and Cortland Fire and EMS also responded to the scene.

Details on what caused the crash were not immediately known.
