NU Notes: Singleton Earns Two Honors

Nebraska defensive back DeShon Singleton earned a pair of honors on Monday, as he was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and was recognized as the East-West Shrine Bowl’s "Breakout Defensive Player of the Week”
Singleton keyed Nebraska’s win over Michigan State, totaling six tackles and a pair of interceptions in the Huskers’ 38-27 win. The two interceptions were a career high for the senior and the first time a Husker had multiple interceptions in a game since 2023. The last Husker to earn Big Ten Defensive weekly honors was JoJo Domann in 2021.
Singleton has anchored a Husker pass defense that leads the nation in pass efficiency defense (80.55) and passing yards allowed per game (91.8 ypg) and ranks fourth in total defense (247.4 ypg). He enters the Maryland game with 23 tackles to rank second on the team.
The Senior Bowl award recognizes an all-star game eligible defensive player that displayed the most NFL traits that week.
The Huskers hit the road this weekend, traveling to Maryland this Saturday. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. and the game will be carried on BTN and the Huskers Radio Network.
