VALENTINE, Neb. — A 36-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after law enforcement say he threatened another man with a gun at a Valentine bar.

Victor Ortega, whose home address is listed as unavailable on the Nebraska JUSTICE website, is charged with use of a firearm to commit a felony, terroristic threats, and possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person.

According to an affidavit, police were called to The Corner Pub on Sept. 18 just after 7 p.m. for a report of a man pointing a weapon at customers.

When law enforcement arrived, they say they found Ortega behind the bar taking alcoholic beverages from the refrigerator without permission from staff.

Officers gave verbal commands, which Ortega allegedly ignored, saying, “I’m an outlaw. No, f--- that s---.” When an officer drew a Taser, Ortega reportedly began to comply but continued to resist while being handcuffed.

As officers escorted him out, the affidavit states Ortega spat in a man’s face and told police, “I was about to kill someone tonight.”

Witnesses told law enforcement Ortega had pulled a gun on a man during an argument. The victim said the confrontation began because Ortega believed he was part of a motorcycle gang, which upset him. Ortega allegedly told the victim he was on the run from the cartel.

When the victim said police were on the way, Ortega allegedly dropped the gun, removed the magazine, and set it on the counter. A witness told officers Ortega then placed a second magazine on the counter, and the witness took the gun and cleared it.

In court on Monday, Oct. 6, an assault charge against Ortega was dismissed. He has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
