OGALLALA – The fifth-ranked Sidney Red Raiders continued their unbeaten run Friday night, shutting out Ogallala 33-0 to improve to 6-0 on the season. The win marked Sidney’s third shutout of the year, while the Indians dropped to 1-5.

Sidney deferred the opening kickoff and immediately set the tone defensively, forcing an Ogallala punt from the Indian 42-yard line. The Red Raiders then marched 73 yards in 13 plays, highlighted by a 45-yard strike from quarterback Alek Doty to junior wideout Kyle Jaggers down to the six. Three plays later, Doty connected with senior Lance Holly on a four-yard touchdown pass to put Sidney on top 7-0.

After an exchange of punts, Sidney took over at midfield on its third possession and needed eight plays to double the lead. Senior running back Rhys Dorcey capped the drive with a 15-yard scoring run to make it 14-0.

The Red Raiders kept rolling on their next series, putting together a 15-play, 75-yard march capped by Dorcey’s second touchdown of the night, this one from two yards out. That extended the lead to 21-0.

Ogallala’s best scoring chance came late in the first half when quarterback Edan Cain hit Sawyer Smith for 49 yards to the Sidney 14. Cain followed with a short completion to freshman Rhys Gilmore to the nine, but on the next play Dorcey, playing outside linebacker, intercepted a pass in the end zone to end the threat. Sidney led 21-0 at the break.

Sidney wasted no time adding to the lead in the second half. On the first play from scrimmage, tight end Keian Kaiser, lined up in the backfield, broke free up the middle for a 56-yard touchdown run just 18 seconds into the third quarter. The extra point missed, but the Red Raiders led 27-0.

Both teams traded punts for most of the third quarter. Sidney’s final scoring drive began late in the period and carried into the fourth. A 19-yard Doty-to-Kaiser completion helped set up Dorcey’s third touchdown of the game, going four yards untouched off left tackle for the score. Another missed PAT left the score 33-0, where it stayed the rest of the night.

Sidney rolled up 429 total yards, with 282 on the ground and 147 through the air. Doty finished 10 of 23 for 147 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Dorcey led the ground game with 24 carries for 118 yards and three touchdowns.

The Red Raider defense was dominant once again, holding Ogallala to just 97 total yards, including minus-26 rushing yards. Cain completed 12 of 24 passes for 123 yards with one interception.

Sidney returns home next week for Homecoming at Weymouth Field, hosting the Chase County Longhorns (1-5), who fell to Chadron 49-6 on Friday. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m.
