GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — A new era of baseball is coming to Grand Island with the announcement that the city will be home to one of six inaugural teams in the Diamond Baseball League (DBL).

The professional-grade collegiate summer league will begin play in 2026, bringing top-level competition and family-friendly entertainment to the community. Now, the DBL is inviting the community to take part in shaping the team’s identity.

Fans can submit their ideas for the franchise’s official name by participating in the “Name The Team” contest at this website. The Diamond Baseball League has secured multi-year leases with first-class facilities across its six founding markets in Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

To ensure operational consistency, long-term stability and financial growth, the league will own and operate each of the six inaugural teams. With more than 100 years of combined professional sports experience, the DBL leadership team brings expertise from collegiate summer leagues, independent and minor league baseball and even Major League Baseball front offices.

Their mission is to establish the DBL as a premier destination for collegiate athletes and a cornerstone of community sports and entertainment. For more information about the Diamond Baseball League, visit www.thedbl.com.
