Intoxicated driver crashes into power pole, leaves 1,100 Kearney customers without power
Police say Monday night's power outage was cause by an intoxicated driver who struck a power pole.
KEARNEY, Neb. - Over a thousand Kearney homes lose power Monday night after police say an intoxicated driver strikes a power pole on the east side of town. Crews are actively working to repair the damage.
The crash happened just before midnight near the intersection of 27th Street and N. Avenue, with police saying it was a single-car accident involving an intoxicated driver.
Nobody was seriously hurt in the crash, according to police.
The incident left over 1,100 customers without power, according to the Nebraska Public Power District.
NPPD was able to fully restore electricity around 2:30 Tuesday morning.
NCN observed crews on Tuesday working to clear damage from the scene, along with putting a new power pole into place.
