COLUMBUS - A big game from Ryder Theisen on both sides of the ball led the way for Pierce past Scotus Central Catholic 28-13 Friday night. The Blue Jays back finished with 175 yards rushing and a TD and finished off the game with a clinching interception late in the contest.

Pierce jumped to a 28-0 first half lead thanks in large part to a three-headed rushing attack, with Theisen, Jackson Fischer and Bryce Lindstrom all finding the end zone. Brock Collison also hit Gavin Lubischer with a scoring pass to extend the lead right before halftime. The Jays also kept Scotus from crossing midfield throughout the first half.

The Shamrocks came out of the halftime locker room like gangbusters, scoring twice on Carson Wessel TD throws to Mac Bailey and Eli Maguire, with a big fumble recovery in between, to cut the deficit to 28-13.

But the Jays were undaunted, milking the clock and polishing off the night with Theisen's game-sealing pick with 2 minutes to go. Pierce (4-1) is back home against O'Neill next Friday, while Scotus (1-4) hosts Schuyler.
