Kearney man accused of assaulting, robbing girlfriend has more than 30 prior arrests

KEARNEY, Neb. - A Kearney man is behind bars after police arrested him for allegedly assaulting and robbing his girlfriend.
Police say 31-year-old Sebit Chan assaulted his 20-year-old girlfriend and stole her car keys back in July.
A judge issued a warrant for his arrest in August, and he was taken into custody Wednesday.
Chan faces charges of domestic assault, robbery and criminal mischief– intentional destruction of property.
He is being held in the Buffalo County Jail on a $50,000 bond, with a preliminary hearing set for Oct. 20.
Court records show Chan has been arrested more than 30 times in Lancaster County.
In 2022, he was sentenced to nearly two years in prison for distributing fentanyl.
Kearney police searched Chan's apartment Sept. 23 after a neighbor found bullet holes in their unit.
Investigators reported finding an AR-15 magazine loaded with ammunition, but no rifle.
