HASTINGS, Neb. – The most prominent hospital in Hastings is searching for its new President and CEO.

Mary Lanning Healthcare released a statement Wednesday morning saying Eric Barber is no longer the President and CEO of the hospital.

The move was made effective on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

The nature of the departure was not made clear in the news release, and News Channel Nebraska has reached out to MLH for additional details.

"The MLH Board of Trustees acknowledges Eric’s contributions to the organization over the past 12 years and wish him well in his future endeavors." the statement read.

Taking over is David Zechman to serve as the Mary Lanning Healthcare Interim CEO, effective immediately.

The release says Zechman has an extensive track record of success in leading healthcare organizations in the Midwest.

His CEO experience ranges from small hospitals to large, and academic medical centers.

Zechman will work closely with the Board of Trustees, leadership, medical staff and employees to ensure a smooth transition and advance the vision of Mary Lanning Healthcare.

The news release says a search for the permanent Mary Lanning CEO will commence in the near future.
