VALENTINE, Neb. – A 38-year-old North Platte woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting people near Penbrook Landing on the Niobrara River, then attacking officers during the booking process at the Cherry County Jail.

Sarah Bush has been charged with felony assault on an officer and two misdemeanor counts of assault causing bodily injury.

According to an arrest affidavit, deputies were dispatched to Penbrook Landing south of Sparks after reports of an assault. A sheriff’s deputy observed a man with a scratch on his cheek and a teenage girl with a swollen cheek. The teen told authorities Bush had struck her with a bottle.

While being booked into jail, Bush allegedly refused to follow commands, kicked and punched three officers, and struck a deputy in the jaw with her foot. Authorities say she also threatened deputies, saying, just “shoot her already” and that she would “fucking kill you.” The affidavit further states that Bush attempted to bite a deputy.

Court records show Bush has prior convictions, including being found guilty in Lincoln County, Nebraska for resisting arrest after being accused of assault. In 2022, her licensed practical nurse credential was suspended due to alcohol addiction.
