ALLIANCE, Neb. — A protection order filed days after a man went missing in northwest Nebraska is providing new context in a homicide investigation, according to KOLN.

The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating the death of 32-year-old Ebram Sifuentes of Alliance, who was last seen in town on Aug. 27 around 6:30 p.m. Human remains were discovered Sept. 4 in rural Box Butte County. Investigators said they are confident the remains are Sifuentes and believe his death was a homicide. Additional testing is pending.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the case. Tamara Bingham, 26, was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder. Matthew Landreth, 36, was arrested and charged with accessory to murder.

Court records reviewed by KOLN show that on the same day authorities announced the search for Sifuentes, Bingham filed for a protection order against him. The two had been in a relationship, and in her filing, Bingham alleged that Sifuentes had abused her and twice threatened her with a gun between September 2023 and July 2025. The order, which has not been granted, contains no formal allegations of criminal wrongdoing by Sifuentes beyond Bingham’s statements.

It is unclear how Landreth is connected to the case. Prosecutors have charged him with one count of accessory to murder, alleging the crime occurred on Aug. 28, the day after Sifuentes was last seen. His arrest affidavit has been sealed. Landreth is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Box Butte County Court. His booking photo will not be released until then.

As of Monday afternoon, Bingham had not been formally charged with murder, and the Nebraska State Patrol did not immediately respond to requests for updated information, KOLN reported.
