LINCOLN, Neb. - While the position battle continues, the odds of Alabama transfer Elijah Pritchett taking the top spot have gone in the wrong direction.

Huskers Head Coach Matt Rhule said Friday, if the season began today, Pritchett would not be the starter.

Pritchett continued to battle Lincoln native Gunnar Gottula for that starting spot, meanwhile veteran Turner Corcoran is nearing full health after a hamstring surgery.

Rhule was quick to say it isn't off-the-field issues plaguing Pritchett, rather, too mistakes throughout fall camp.

"I've liked Elijah very much, I like how he's trying to get better, but we have an offensive line that's really really good... They demand accountability from one another," Rhule said. "You cannot make missed assignments, you cannot false start in the red zone, you cannot have holding penalties... We're just working through a lot of that football stuff with Elijah. It's not about him being a bad teammate or doing what we ask.. it's about the accountability at that position."

Rhule said battles continue at the right tackle spot as well, but the current front runner seems to be Teddy Prochazka.
