Teenager puts on arts fest, along with other achievements
ALBION, Neb. - It may look like just another small town Saturday. But here in Albion the vision of a girl barely old enough to drive is coming to life.
Kayda Cruz put together this arts festival behind me at only…
“15,” Cruz said.
The arts festival held outside of her families business the nest was something she said couldn’t have happened without her parents who have supported her through all her projects.
“They understand my creative motive. And sometimes I feel like I can’t do it cause I’m 15,” Cruz said. “But once they help me with that road block of I don’t know this stuff. They teach it to me, they show me. then I can get it done and it makes me feel like it doesn’t matter the age, or your gender, or who you are, or anything. It just takes drive.”
While other teenagers might be dreading going back to school. Cruz gave herself summer homework and put the arts fest together in just a few months, though it proved to be easier than math or science especially for a Gen-Z kid.
“Funny enough, it was not hard at all, I would just go on Instagram and research what libraries are close to use or what comics are close to us,” Cruz said. “And then I would see who was following those pages, and more often than not they were artists.”
And this isn’t the only thing Cruz does, she also models and acts in New York City.
She also has her own booth set up to sell art from her very own graphic novel.
“It’s fully written, I’m just working on the art. So I sell a lot of stuff with my characters,” Cruz said. “Or promotional art, as well as art for other fandoms like you would see at a comicon.”
In just a few months this high schooler turned her dreams into reality that might just become a tradition.
