Lindsay celebrates new Health, Wellness, and event center coming soon
LINDSAY, Neb. – The town of Lindsay, Nebraska, is buzzing with excitement as the Lindsay Area Development (LAD) prepares to open its new Health and Wellness Center and Event Center. This project, a culmination of years of community planning and fundraising, represents a significant investment in the town's future.
The seeds for this project were planted back in 2017 when LAD, a non-profit economic development group, conducted a community attitude survey. This survey was designed to identify the community's priorities and help shape LAD's strategic plan. Over the next several years, LAD diligently worked on various initiatives, with the Health and Wellness Center emerging as a key priority. In 2022, LAD reaffirmed the community's desire for the center and launched a fundraising campaign.
The Lindsay Area Event and Wellness Center, owned and operated by LAD, is a multifaceted public facility designed to serve a wide range of community needs. The center boasts a state-of-the-art fitness center, a gymnasium, and a versatile multipurpose event space. This event space is designed to host everything from conferences and wedding receptions to family gatherings, expos, athletic activities, and tournaments throughout the year. The center is physically connected to Lindsay Academy, but will operate as a separate facility. The two have partnered to share a portion of the building.
This ambitious project was made possible through a combination of community donations and grants. The fitness center and library are slated to open to the public on October 1, 2025, with construction wrapping up by the end of August 2025. September will be dedicated to setting up operations and preparing for the grand opening. The event center construction is expected to be completed by the end of November, with the first events scheduled for January 2026.
Community members will have several membership options to choose from. A family membership, which includes two adults and dependents 26 and under living in the same household, will cost $600 per year. Individual memberships will be available for $400 per year. Day and monthly rate options will also be available once the center opens in October. The library will be public and free.
