OMAHA, Neb. — Hundreds of people are responding to an ICE raid in Omaha with a protest.

Video shows people with signs and flags lining the area around 32nd and L Streets on Tuesday night. Supporters honked their horns as they drove by the South Omaha intersection. Organizers circulated a flyer promoting the rally on social media with the title “Omaha Stands with Immigrants.” The graphic labeled the grassroots protest as a “peaceful rally to support our neighbors.”

“We hope to let the community know that we support our families, we support these people who are good working people who are working to support their families,” organizer Ana Hernandez said. “Their kids will go home tonight to no parents because their mom and dad were working to support them.”

The rally was scheduled to last for three hours. It was located just a couple blocks from the J-B-S packing plant, which was initially rumored to have experienced an immigration raid... but the plant actually let its workers out early because of a mechanical problem. Glenn Valley Foods, which was raided, is about three miles west of the protest.
