NORFOLK - A company with over a decade of serving customers in the midwest is throwing its support behind the Great American Comedy Festival.

Midwest Acutech has agreed to be the title sponsor for this year’s festival, scheduled for June 12-14 at the Johnny Carson Theatre in Norfolk.

“Our festival is completely community-run, staffed entirely by volunteers, and our community has been able to put on a world-class festival for almost two decades,” said festival executive director Pat Janssen. “That wouldn’t happen without the support of our community and generous sponsors. Midwest AcuTech is a family-run, midwestern company that really values what we’re doing for our community.”

Based in Mason City, Iowa, Midwest AcuTech provides communications, infrastructure, and alarm and monitoring support to a litany of companies, counting Honeywell, CommScope, and Panduit among their clients.

“Their whole business is about connecting rural areas, so our partnership is a natural fit,” Janssen said.

Founded in 2013, the low-voltage telecommunications company has grown from humble beginnings in an Iowa garage to a larger space with technicians located in three different communities.

“You can feel what a tight-knit family operation Midwest AcuTech is,” Janssen said. “Despite their impressive growth, every conversation we’ve had has been with co-founder Mike Stephens. He really cares, and that’s why I feel so honored to have them as part of our festival. We could not be more thankful to Mike and his team at Midwest Acutech.”

The annual festival opened in 2008 to honor the legacy of Norfolk’s favorite son, Johnny Carson, who was host of NBC’s “Late Night Show Starring Johnny Carson” for over 25 years. It begins with the family comedy magic show on Thursday, June 12th, and continues with the Theatre Show on Friday June 13th headlined by James Austin Johnson, along with the Friday Late Show at Norfolk’s District Events Center, and the Saturday Gala headlined by Yakov Smirnov.

The Great American Comedy Festival is also made possible with the support of the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment.
