HASTINGS, Neb. – One of the more popular attractions in Hastings will be put into operation for the season this upcoming weekend.

The city of Hastings announced Tuesday that the Jacob Fisher Rainbow Fountain will fire up for the first time in 2025 on Friday, May 9.

Testing of the fountain's lights will happen on Thurs. May 8 from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.

A new addition to the multi-colored fountain this year is a new coat of paint, which was painted at the end of the 2024 season according to the city.

The iconic fountain has stood in Highland Park near 12th St and Denver Ave. since 1933.

It is regarded as the largest fountain of its kind in between Denver and Chicago.

Fisher Fountain features five unique water forms with technology allowing the possibility of over two million color combinations from a light display.

The fountain will remain open and operative until Labor Day weekend.
