NORFOLK - This time of year, kids are getting a bit of cabin fever, and an event in Norfolk got hundreds of kids outside to burn off some of that excess energy.

The 43rd-annual Norfolk Youth Track Meet was held at the Johnny Carson Field on Friday.

The event is organized by the Norfolk Kiwanis Club. It's designed to get kids up to 6th grade involved in track - with field events, sprint and hurdle races, and even a 400-meter run.

The meet - delayed a week because of weather - proved to be a popular one once again.

Organizers said they had 435 kids sign up this year. That represents an all-time high for the over four-decade tradition.
