Prep track & field roundup: Sidney, Ogallala compete at Don Bader Invite in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Neb. – Sidney’s Lance Holly placed fourth in the boys 100-meter dash finals, clocking 11.11 seconds, while teammate Landon Riddle was close behind in fifth at 11.17 seconds Friday at the Don Bader Track and Field Invitational in Lexington.
Holly and Riddle also helped lead Sidney’s 4x100 relay team to a runner-up finish with a time of 42.95 seconds. Sidney’s 4x400 team took second overall in 3:27.90.
In field events, Riddle finished third in the boys long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 4 inches. Kash Knobbe tied for fourth in the boys high jump, clearing 6 feet, 2 inches. Sidney’s girls relay teams also found success, with the 4x400 squad placing fifth in 4:16.83 and the 4x800 team earning second in 10:09.13.
Ogallala’s Story Rasby delivered a standout performance, finishing second in the girls 800 meters with a time of 2:20.47. Shaydyn Rasby took second in both the girls 100-meter hurdles (15.52 seconds) and 300-meter hurdles (46.09 seconds), and helped Ogallala’s girls 4x400 relay team win gold with a time of 4:03.30.
In the field events, Ogallala’s Marly Eastman placed well in the girls 400 meters and Rylee Church finished third in girls long jump at 16-8.5.
Bridgeport Boys, Mitchell Girls Win Titles at George Calvert Invite
MITCHELL, Neb. – Bridgeport’s boys and Mitchell’s girls captured team titles Friday at the George Calvert Track and Field Invitational in Mitchell.
Bridgeport’s boys totaled 172 points to claim first, led by Cole Katen’s 200-meter win (23.32) and victories in the 4x100 relay (46.33). Landon Dean also claimed the shot put title (40-10.5). Lingle-Fort Laramie finished second with 132 points, followed by Mitchell with 117. Garden County placed fourth, with Kyan Kramer winning the discus (147-5).
On the girls side, Mitchell earned the team title with 128 points. Taylor Bright led the Tigers, winning the 100 meters (13.06) and placing second in the 200. Mitchell’s girls also earned second in the 4x100 relay. Bridgeport finished runner-up with 110 points, highlighted by Fallon DeBlois winning the shot put (34-3.5) and discus (105-1).
Lingle-Fort Laramie finished third in the girls standings with 95 points. Leyton was fourth, Morrill fifth, Garden County sixth, and Minatare seventh.
Scottsbluff Boys, Torrington Girls Shine at West Nebraska Twilight Invite
SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. – Scottsbluff’s boys and Torrington’s girls earned team titles Friday at the West Nebraska Twilight Invitational.
The Bearcats’ boys posted 154 points to win, led by Boston Gable’s sprint double in the 100 (11.23) and 200 (23.22), plus a sweep of the relays. Gering finished second with 107 points, highlighted by Axton Stone’s mile victory (4:27.77) and strong relay performances. Alliance placed third with 102.5 points, boosted by Payton Boyer’s triple jump win (41-2.5).
On the girls side, Torrington dominated with 130 points. Brooklyn Asmus led the way, winning the 100 (12.32), 200 (26.19) and 400 (1:00.56), and helping Torrington take the 4x100 relay (50.55). Scottsbluff was runner-up with 108 points, while Gering finished third with 88.
In unified competition, Alliance claimed first with 41 points, followed by Scottsbluff and Gering.
Other individual highlights included Gering’s Creighton Beals winning both hurdle events (15.53, 40.94), Scottsbluff’s Hannah Rugroden taking the 800 (2:32.51) and Gering’s Jaxie John dominating the shot put (40-6).
