Most popular TV shows on Hulu this week
With the Walt Disney Company now owning Hulu outright, Hulu features a broad mix of Disney-owned content—such as FX dramas and next-day ABC episodes—though its library remains distinct from Disney+. However, the streamer, first launched in 2007, has evolved from hosting preexisting cable and network shows to becoming a powerhouse for original content.
Hulu originals like "The Handmaid's Tale" and the miniseries "Dopesick" have been notable vehicles for award-winning, top-tier performances. Based on the 1985 Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, "The Handmaid's Tale" premiered in 2017 starring Elisabeth Moss, who won two Emmys in 2017 (Outstanding Lead Actress and, as a producer, Outstanding Drama Series) and a 2018 Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama. The series wrapped up its final season on May 27, 2025, but not before earning 77 Emmy nominations and 15 wins. Most recently, Cherry Jones was nominated again in 2025 for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
Obviously, "The Handmaid's Tale" will go down in TV history as one of Hulu's great success stories, but it's far from its only hit. The mystery-comedy series "Only Murders in the Building," which premiered in 2021, has also earned plenty of accolades. Starring comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short, as well as pop superstar Selena Gomez, the show follows the unlikely trio as they investigate, and record a podcast about, the surprising amount of murders that occur in their Upper West Side apartment building. The fifth season of the beloved show premiered on Sept. 9, 2025.
In 2025 alone, there have been plenty of Hulu shows generating buzz, like multiple Emmy nominee "Paradise," the LGBTQ+ sitcom "Mid-Century Modern" (often described as a "Golden Girls" riff), the long-awaited "King of the Hill" reboot that premiered Aug. 4, 2025, and the true-crime limited series "The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox," which premiered Aug. 20, 2025.
In other words, you've got a lot to choose from. From gritty dramas to witty satires, you're sure to find something that piques your interest on Stacker's list of the most popular TV shows on Hulu this week. The list was compiled using data from Reelgood as of Sept. 15, 2025, with IMDb ratings and other data points added for supplementary insights.
