LINCOLN — The Scottsbluff Bearcats got stops on the final possessions to seal a 58-55 win over Elkhorn North in the state semifinals on Friday night.

The win places #2 Scottsbluff in the Class B championship game against #4 Omaha Skutt on Saturday. The Bearcats are back in the title game for the first time since 2017.

Elkhorn North scored the first points of the game but never led again after that. The Bearcats led by as much as 10 points in the second quarter before the Wolves started chipping away. Elkhorn North tied the game at 53-53 with 2:31 to go in the game. Scottsbluff’s Nate Kelly immediately responded with a basket to regain the lead and combined with Rylee Meininger to make enough free throws in the final minute to seal the win.

The Bearcats’ defense held the Wolves without a made field goal for the final 2:31 of the game.
