Irish Efficiency Leads Team to Class D2 Girls Basketball Title Game

LINCOLN, NE - The Falls City-Sacred Heart girls basketball team is rolling into the Class D2 Title game thanks to a 47-38 win over Archangels Catholic on Friday night, as heard on B103.
The Irish actually had fewer buckets in the game overall (15-14), but FC-SH had six more points at the free throw line (on just one more attempt), and they had twice the 3-pointers (10-5) on two fewer attempts (22-24). On the night, FC-SH shot 37% from the field & 45% from downtown, while the Defenders canned 24% from the floor & 21% from deep. Despite AC going plus-12 in rebounding, thanks in large part to 24 offensive boards, it was not enough to overcome their shooting woes.
FC-SH saw Avery Santo lead the charge with 23 points, while Daycee Witt hit for 14. Jentry Lechtenberg chipped in with nine points & eight boards. Nyla Kessler dropped in 13 for the Defenders, while Jayda Krings helped out with eleven points & five steals.
On Saturday, Archangels Catholic will take part in the third-place game against Wilcox-Hildreth, while Falls City-Sacred Heart will battle Dorchester for the title at 8:15 p.m. on B103.
