BEATRICE – A man charged in the firearm death of a Beatrice woman appeared in Gage County District Court Wednesday, where District Judge Rick Schreiner granted a defense motion for additional depositions in the case.

Christopher Milke is charged in the shooting death of Tammy Leslie at the couple’s Hillcrest Avenue home in Beatrice. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder and two counts of kidnapping.

Police responding to the scene broke through a door to the home, rescued two children inside the house and arrested Milke a short time later.  Leslie was found dead inside the home from multiple gunshot wounds.

The judge denied a defense motion to set a bond of some monetary amount, and Milke remains held without bond in the Gage County Jail. Further pretrial matters are now set for May 6th. (10am)
