NORFOLK, Neb. -- Physicians Mutual, a nationwide provider of health, life, and retirement insurance, has brought new jobs to downtown Norfolk. Its new call center opened last fall but was welcomed Friday(Feb 28) by the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon-cutting celebration.

With all of Physician Mutual operations taking place in the greater Omaha area, they started having staffing challenges, which allowed them to explore their options and later led them to open a second location in rural Norfolk, Nebraska. The opening and ribbon-cutting was so important that not only did Physicians Mutual President Rob Reed attend, but it also caught the attention of Nebraska’s Rep. Mike Flood.

“We introduced Physicians Mutual to our Growing Together Scholars through Wayne State College,” Flood said. “Rob Reed, the CEO, was so impressed that he said, you know what, let's start planning to put jobs up in Norfolk. Here we are today celebrating that. For the first time, this hasn’t happened in the history of Physicians Mutual since 1902, that they have expanded outside of the Omaha metropolitan area.”

“The company has 900-plus employees with locations in Omaha, Bellevue, and now Norfolk,” Reed said. “In our new location, we currently have 19 employees. This is just the start of something great, and hopefully, over time, Physicians Mutual will grow our presence and create more job opportunities in the future.”

The company is committed to its customer-centric mindset of providing exceptional service and advocating for its customers.

The Physicians Mutual family also includes Physicians Life and Physicians Select Insurance Companies. The family of companies provides health, life, and retirement products, including Medicare Supplement, dental, life, and supplemental health insurance, coverage for funeral pre-planning, along with pet insurance for dogs and cats.
