OGALLALA – The Sidney Red Raiders endured a fierce comeback by Bridgeport Tuesday evening to advance to the championship game of the boy's C1-10 Sub-District in Ogallala. The Red Raiders survived a 22-12 run by the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter to advance with 63-55 win.

Bridgeport bolted from the gate to take an early 6-2 advantage in a first period that featured four ties, the last coming at 11-11. Sidney took their first lead at 14-11 on a Kash Knobbe three with 1:22 remaining in the opening stanza. The quarter ended with the Red Raiders leading 14-13.

With the game tied 17-17 early in the second period, Sidney finished the half on a 13-3 run to take a 30-20 advantage into intermission.

The Red Raiders continued to build on their advantage in the third quarter. Senior Landon Riddle and junior Keian Kaiser each recorded eight points in the period as Sidney built what appeared to be a commanding 51-33 lead heading into the final period.

However, the Bulldogs refused to concede that the outcome of the game to be inevitable. Fueled by junior Gage Nein’s six fourth quarter points, Bridgeport cut the Sidney lead in half with 2:00 remaining in the game. But the Bulldogs got no closer than within seven points as the Red Raiders held on for the 63-55 win.

Sidney was led by Keian Kaiser’s 18 points as Landon Riddle chipped in 16 points. Bridgeport was paced by Hayes Watts with 16 points while Gage Nein added 12 points.

With the win Sidney (17-7) advances to Thursday’s C1-10 championship game against top-seeded Ogallala (22-1). The Indians defeated Chadron 82-53 to earn their spot in the championship game. Tipoff in Ogallala is set for 6:00 p.m. MT and can be heard on 1340 AM/95.7 FM Cheyenne County Country, streamed on thebigboy987 and the News Channel Nebraska App. Bridgeport, who falls to 18-8 on the season, will wait to see if the Bulldogs qualify for a District Final.
