OMAHA, Neb. — Bridgeport and Leyton continued their dominant postseason runs with sub-district championships, while Hay Springs and Morrill prepare for their own win-or-go-home matchups on Friday, with a trip to the Nebraska School Activities Association Girls State Basketball Championships on the line.

Leyton (19-5) punched its ticket to a fourth consecutive district final after rolling past Garden County, 63-22, in the D2-11 Sub-District title game on Friday. Senior Zaili Benish led the Warriors with a game-high 22 points, while fellow seniors Shawnee Gamble (15 points), Kaydence Haupt (10 points), Ella Haley (8 points), and Sydney Fortune (8 points) helped fuel the victory.

Leyton, the No. 8 seed in Class D2, will face No. 9 Anselmo-Merna in the D2-8 District Final as the Warriors look to secure a trip Lincoln for the second time in three years. In 2023, Leyton lost to Falls City Sacred Heart in the first round of the state tournament. The time and location for Friday's game has not been announced. 

Bridgeport (24-1) also secured its C1-10 Sub-District title on Saturday, overcoming an early 10-point deficit to defeat Ogallala, 57-41. The Bulldogs turned up the pressure in the second quarter, outscoring the Indians 22-5 to seize control before halftime. Ella Schluterbusch (21 points), Olivia Brown (13 points), and Tacey From (12 points) led the charge as Bridgeport advanced to its sixth straight district final.

The Bulldogs will host Battle Creek (17-8) in the C1-5 District Final for a chance to qualify for their fifth consecutive state tournament. Tip off time has not been announced. 

Elsewhere in Class D2, Hay Springs (No. 16 seed) faces top-seeded Shelton in the D2-1 District Final. In Class D1, Morrill (No. 15 seed) takes on No. 2 Elm Creek in the D1-2 District Final.

The NSAA State Tournament runs March 5-8.
