The Kimball and Morrill ladies basketball teams will play each other in the NSAA D1-12 sub-district final. The two teams earned their spots at Morrill Elementary School in a sub-district showdown that was delayed a day by weather.

#2 Kimball faced #3 Hemingford in the first game. The longhorns were no stranger to the bobcats, having played them last Tuesday night in regular season action in Kimball. At home last week, the lady longhorns beat the lady bobcats by seven, leaving uncertainty that they could win a second consecutive game.

Kimball started fast, making long passes down the court to limit the Hemingford defense and get a commanding lead early. The strategy worked and after the teams leading scorer JaLeigh Bohac and mid-season addition Addy Olsen put the the longhorns out in front, the team had a feeding frenzy with all the starters putting up above average numbers, and second string players coming off the bench earlier and more often than longhorn fans are used to seeing. In the end, Kimball advanced to the final and ended Hemingford's season by a score of 61-30.

#1 Morrill took on #4 Potter-Dix in the second game of the night. Favored to win on their home court, Morrill stuck to what has gotten them this far. An under the basket attack from sophomore Katelyn Walker and the long range scoring of Brooklyn Brown.

Brown put up five three pointers in the game to become the second highest scorer behind Walker. The lady Coyotes worked hard and Crystal Dhooge and Micayla McConnell were able to get through the lady lion defense to maintain their season average scoring numbers, but the lions were just too much. Morrill advanced to the final with a score of 62-24.

The sub-district final will be Thursday at 6:00 pm in Morrill. It will air live on 104.3 KIMB and 1043kimb.com.
