Sidney’s Jordan DeNovellis signs to play basketball at Park University

SIDNEY, Neb. — Despite missing her senior season due to an ACL injury, Sidney High School’s Jordan DeNovellis is not done with basketball. The senior guard signed her letter of intent Wednesday to continue her career at Park University in Gilbert, Arizona.
DeNovellis, who plans to study biology with aspirations of becoming a physical therapist, occupational therapist or physician assistant, said the decision to join the Buccaneers was an easy one.
“The coaching staff was great, and I have always wanted to play college basketball,” DeNovellis said. “I love their traveling schedule and am excited to be a part of the team. One thing that I think was incredible was their staff has always been cordial and excited for me to be a part of their team, and me being injured this season didn’t change a thing. I just think that’s pretty awesome.”
DeNovellis, who played a key role as the Lady Raiders' primary ball handler prior to her injury, credited her coaches for helping her develop both on and off the court.
“Coach (Shawn) Dillehay was my traveling ball coach through eighth grade, and he helped me develop the love I have for basketball and the skills to be a good player,” she said. “Coach (Tyler) Shaw taught me that I can do more than I think I can and that I can get through anything.”
Though she wasn’t able to suit up for Sidney this season, DeNovellis expressed gratitude for the unwavering support she has received from the school and community.
“I would love to thank the school and community for the support throughout my school career,” she said. “Go Raiders! And Go Buccaneers!”
DeNovellis will join a Park University program that competes in the NAIA’s Great Southwest Athletic Conference.
The Lady Raiders are in Chadron Friday to play the Cardinals at 6 p.m., immediately following the boys game. Both games will air on Cheyenne County Country (1340 AM, 95.7 FM), newschannelnebraska.com and the free NCN app.
