Eagle Wrestling Wins Fourth Straight Dual

GOLDEN, Colo. – Thanks to two falls, two tech falls, two major decisions and two forfeits, Chadron State men's wrestling earned a 42-6 dual victory over Simon Fraser University in a neutral-site match taking place at Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado.
The win, CSC's fourth straight, puts the Eagles at 4-2 in RMAC play with one dual to go this Friday at CSU Pueblo. Simon Fraser drops to 1-5 in conference play with the dual loss ahead of a matchup with Colorado School of Mines later Wednesday night.
The Eagles raced out to a 21-0 lead, lost the fifth and sixth matches of the dual by decision, then went on another 21-0 scoring run over the final four weights to finish the matchup.
Hunter Jacobsen, ranked No. 10 in the January NWCA rankings at 125 pounds, led off the dual with a statement pin of SFU's Marques Calapiz in just 1:14 before a Simon Fraser forfeit at 133 gave James Davis a victory and Chadron State another six points.
Chadron State kept up the pressure with a pair of shutout victories by Cyrus Wells (9-0 at 141 pounds) and Torry Early (15-0 at 149 pounds), with Early earning the tech fall in just 52 seconds thanks to a takedown and three four-point near falls.
After Simon Fraser's two wins and a forfeit in favor of CSC, the Eagles' highly-ranked 184-pounder Keegan Gehlhausen recorded another dominant tech fall win, racing out to a 10-1 lead in the first period before finishing off SFU's Owen Gudmundson 17-2 in period number two.
Chadron State's one-two punch at heavyweight continued to impress. New 197-pound mainstay and true freshman Mason Villwok continued his perfect dual record in his Chadron State career, topping SFU's Ricky Feroce with a 12-0 major decision before Cody Pinkerton capped the dual with yet another pin at 285 five minutes into the bout.
Chadron State can finish anywhere between tied for second and fifth place in the eight-team RMAC standings depending on the results of Friday's dual against CSU Pueblo and a Thursday dual between Western Colorado and Colorado Mesa.
