STRATTON, Neb. – A Hitchcock County teen was killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash Saturday west of Stratton, according to the Hitchcock County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the crash occurred on U.S. Highway 34. The driver and sole occupant, Raiden Buffington, was transported by ambulance to Dundy County Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Buffington was the son of Hitchcock County Deputy Damon Buffington.

“Our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and classmates during this extremely difficult time,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement. “Anyone who knew Raiden knew that he had the ability to light up any room he was in.”

Further details about the crash, including its cause, were not immediately released. The incident remains under investigation.
