OSHKOSH, Neb. – The Garden County Eagles earned a pair of victories at home Friday night, with the girls defeating Potter-Dix 53-29 and the boys securing a 66-36 win.

Senior Payton Fornander led the Lady Eagles with 13 points, while sophomore Kirstyn Beberniss added 12.

Junior Breanna Yates contributed nine.

Garden County had a balanced scoring effort, with all but two players making it onto the scoreboard. The Eagles shot 39% from the floor, making two three-pointers and going 5-of-16 from the free-throw line. Defensively, they pulled down 35 rebounds and recorded 24 steals.

Potter-Dix was led by junior Micayla McConnell, who scored a game-high 16 points.

Senior Crystal Dhooge added seven, and freshman Alexa Shoemaker chipped in five.

The Lady Coyotes finished with 14 steals, two blocked shots, and 19 rebounds.

On the boys’ side, Garden County was led by sophomore Kole Fornander with 20 points, while sophomore Javis Underwood added 17. The duo combined for 37 of the Eagles’ 66 points and captured a 36-66 win over the Coyotes.

Freshman Blake Dean contributed 10 points.

Garden County shot 48% from the field, hitting five three-pointers, and collected 30 rebounds and 11 steals.

Potter-Dix’s top scorers were junior Landon Gasseling with 13 points and sophomore Layton Mossberg with 10.

The Coyotes grabbed 21 rebounds, made three three-pointers, and shot 83% from the free-throw line.

The Lady Eagles improved to 11-8, while the boys moved to 11-7. Both teams will remain at home to face Hyannis on Tuesday. Potter-Dix's girls fell to 3-13, and the boys dropped to 5-11. The Coyotes will host Peetz, Colo., on Tuesday.
