KIMBALL -- A Kimball man who was arrested in October on suspicion of eating a cat was found guilty in District Court Tuesday afternoon.
Twenty-seven-year-old Eldon Lewis pled no contest to a single count of Class 4 Felony Cruelty to Animal Resulting in Death.
On Oct. 11, the Kimball Police Department executed a search warrant at 404 S. Myrtle Street in Kimball in reference to possible animal cruelty taking place.
According to the affidavit, “The alleged animal cruelty being that Eldon Lewis had captured, killed, skinned, ate, and kept the head of his ex-wife's cat.”
During the investigation, authorities found evidence of an animal being killed in the garage.
“There was blood spatter, animal hair, an axe, multiple knives, a machete, and broken zip-ties, showing that the animal was bound and restrained,” the affidavit states.
The affidavit also states that Lewis later admitted in an interview with officers that he did kill the cat by using an axe.
His sentencing date is set for March 4.
