Bird flu hits Kearney County flock
Bird flu continues to be an issue and it's reaching into central Nebraska.
KEARNEY, Neb. -- Bird flu continues to be an issue and it's reaching into central Nebraska.
A backyard flock of chickens located in Kearney County were found infected by the virus.
Since this strain of the disease was first detected in early 2022 among U.S. birds, more than 147 million have been lost throughout the country and Puerto Rico.
The most recent cases of bird flu in Nebraska were typically relegated to the eastern portions of the state.
