The Kimball Longhorns girls basketball team traveled to Mitchell Tuesday night to take on the lady tigers. In their first game since finishing the SPVA Tournament 0-3 to spite strong performances against Perkins County and North Platte St. Pats, the longhorns jumped out early and never looked back.

2-14 coming into tonight, the lady longhorns jumped to a six nothing lead over the 6-10 lady tigers in the opening minutes with four of those points coming from foul shots. The lady tigers were plagued by shooting fouls in the opening quarter and strong shooters JaLeigh Bohac, Joey Perry and Grace Moore took advantage. Mitchell had a more disciplined second quarter but the longhorns forced enough turnovers to take the game to halftime leading 27-12.

In the third quarter the tigers brought the score within eight with strong shooting and turnovers. The longhorns didn't score until five minutes into the third quarter. The final quarter saw the tigers come within three, but the longhorns fought off the comeback and landed two foul shots in the final moments to secure the victory 44-40.

Next up for the lady longhorns is a rematch with St. Pats this Friday the 31st. That game will be broadcast live on 104.3 KIMB and 1043kimb.com.
