Prairie wins in Potter Tuesday evening
POTTER, Neb. – A dominant fourth-quarter push propelled the Prairie Mustangs to a 59-40 victory over Potter-Dix in girls' basketball action Tuesday evening.
Prairie was led by sophomore Hannah Kugler, who recorded a game-high 28 points, while freshman Molly Walker contributed 11.
Senior Aubrey Shipman and junior Tanna Bailey added six points each to the Mustangs’ tally.
The Mustangs controlled the boards with a 29-23 rebounding advantage, collected 16 steals, and blocked three shots. Their defensive pressure forced Potter-Dix into 27 turnovers.
The Lady Coyotes were led by junior Micayla McConnell, who finished with 10 points, while senior Crystal Dhooge chipped in five.
Potter-Dix managed six steals and a single blocked shot in the contest.
In the boys’ matchup, Prairie’s efficient shooting proved to be the difference, as the Mustangs secured a 56-40 win over Potter-Dix.
Sophomore Brennan Bringelson paced Prairie with 25 points, while senior Lane Shock added 10.
Junior Tyler Troudt contributed nine points in the victory.
The Mustangs shot 63% from the floor and an impressive 58% from beyond the arc, connecting on 7-of-19 three-point attempts.
Prairie outrebounded the Coyotes 26-16, forced 13 turnovers, and recorded nine steals.
Potter-Dix was led by junior Landon Gasseling with 15 points, followed by junior Dylan Tabor with 10.
Kolby Labeau chipped in seven points.
Defensively, Potter-Dix forced 18 Prairie turnovers while tallying 11 steals and five blocked shots.
Looking ahead, the Prairie boys and girls will travel to Otis, Colorado, to take on the Bulldogs on Friday. Meanwhile, the Lady Coyotes will head to Hay Springs on Thursday, and the Potter-Dix boys will face Crawford on Saturday.
