FAIRBURY - A Davenport man has died following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 15 north of Fairbury on Monday afternoon. No other vehicles were involved and no other injuries were reported in the incident.

According to a Tuesday release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, 71-year-old Terry Enghauser of Davenport was traveling northbound on Highway 15 when he veered off the road and hit the embankment of 722nd Road, about 11 miles north of downtown Fairbury, just after 3 p.m. on Monday, January 27.

The car, a 2005 Ford Mustang, then crossed 722nd Road where it rolled and ejected Enghauser from the front seat. He was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. Enghauser was transported by Jefferson County ambulance to Fairbury's Jefferson Community Health and Life, where he later died from his injuries. 

Reports of a crash prompted a wide-scale response from local officials, with many first responders such as police, emergency services and others reporting to the initial scene. Enghauser's was the only vehicle involved in the incident and no other injuries or fatalities were reported. The accident is still under investigation as of Tuesday morning.

On the date of January 27, 2025 at 3:02 P.M. the Jefferson County 911 Center received a 911 call in reference to a 1-vehicle accident near the intersection of Hwy 15 and 722 Road. When deputies arrived, they found that there was 1 vehicle involved in the accident and the vehicle rolled into a field on the west side of Highway 15 just north of 722 Road. Vehicle one, a 2005 Ford Mustang, was driven by 71 -year-old Terry Enghauser of Davenport, Nebraska and he was the sole occupant of the vehicle. During the initial investigation of the accident, it was determined that Enghauser was traveling northbound on Highway 15 when he went off the roadway on the west side of Hwy 15 and hit the embankment of 722 Road. The vehicle then crossed 722 Road where the vehicle rolled and the occupant was ejected from the vehicle. Enghauser was transported by the Jefferson County Ambulance District #33 to Jefferson Community Health and Life where he later succumbed from his injuries. Seatbelts were not in use and this accident is still under investigation. Agencies who assisted at the accident was the Daykin Fire and Rescue, Fairbury Rescue, Jefferson County Ambulance District #33.
